The Greenville Scottish Games anchors Gallabrae, and embodies the finest of Scottish traditions brought to new levels of excellence.
The Scots brought a lot more to America than just the bagpipes; they brought independence, a fierce fighting spirit, a strong love of family and clan, a quirky sense of humor, and enjoyment in their surroundings. We’re capturing all this and more with an overflowing series of activities bringing the best of Scotland and our rich Southern heritage together for your enjoyment.
The Greenville Scottish Games began in 2006, and from its inception has consistently taken an innovative, fresh approach to celebrating Scottish heritage. Greenville is nestled in arguably the highest concentration of Scots-Irish descent in the country. The legacy left to us resonates throughout the Upstate in our place names, our attitude toward family, our sense of humor, and our love of country.
What You Can Expect
Friday, May 23rd
6pm: The Great Scot Parade on Main Street in Downtown Greenville.
Saturday, May 24th
8:30am – Gates Open
10:00am – Opening Ceremonies on Main Field
10:30am – Parade of Tartans on Main Field
11:30am – Military Salute on the Main Field
5:00pm – Awards Ceremony
5:30pm to 7:30pm – World’s Greatest Scottish Happy Hour and Celtic Jam

- Heavy Athletics – All day on the Main Field
- Piping/Drumming Competitions – All day around Cherrydale Mansion

Frequently Asked Questions
May I bring coolers?
Yes, although Furman does not allow alcoholic beverages to be brought on campus.
Are dogs allowed?
No, unless it is a service dog or you are one of the invited Border Collie handlers.
Is there a parking fee?
No, we have free parking!
What about chairs and blankets?
You are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to plop down at one of our many venues. Of course, if it gets too cold, you’ll have your blanket to wrap up in. LOL
Where is the handicapped parking?
It is located in the parking lot closest to the Main Games entrance. Please display your placard and you will be directed there.
Where are the Greenville Scottish Games being held?
Furman University has become not only the location of the Greenville Scottish Games, but it has become a true partner and sponsor as well. Not only is the University itself one of the most beautiful college campuses in the country, and is frequently recognized as such, the academic and college life standards are shining examples of the finest educational environment available.
Where will The Great Scot! Parade be held?
The Great Scot! Parade is the Friday night before the Games on Main Street in downtown Greenville at 6pm. Come spend the Memorial Day Weekend with us, Furman University, the City of Greenville, the County of Greenville and enjoy all of our incredible surroundings!
