After years of playing most every sport known to young American Men, I happened, by chance, upon the Sport of Highland Athletics. Never have I been so received by a group of people that I routinely compete with and against. Each time I pick up an Implement to make a throw, I know every man I'm throwing against is also cheering me on to make my very best throw.
It's a Brotherhood, a Community, indeed, a Family of Throwers, that gives me the most satisfaction about competing as a Highland Athlete. We routinely help each other to improve our throws and break our own personal bests without a thought of that person beating you.
It's a unique sport and one that I hope to be a part of for many, many more years to come.
